Busy days...

First, I have to say 'Happy Canada Day' to everyone. If you haven't had the pleasure of visiting our country, then I hope you do make it a priority. If you have been, come back soon... and to all my Canadian friends & family, I hope you get a chance to travel from the West Coast to the East Coast. We have a truly Beautiful Country.

I've been pretty busy. Starting with Gigs... I am a pretty lucky guy. Today I'm in Prescott ON at a pub called O'Heaphy's. This is the 3rd year O'Heaphy's hired me, however I usually play at the Kemptville location.

Last week I had 4 gigs, in 1 weekend. On Friday evening I did the ceremony, cocktails and even DJ'd for a great wedding at the Royal Ottawa Golf club in Aylmer... one of the clients had an Argentinian backgbround and wanted a lot of Latin music. The next day on Saturday I drove out to Renfrew 'God's Country', to do the ceremony for another wedding and then I headed to Merrickville to play at the local pub, Harry McLeans. On Sunday, I performed at a Client Appreciation event in Manotick. By Sunday evening, I was wiped out.

I've also been busy at home. We are getting our house ready for visitors coming in a couple of weeks. I have to finish painting and have to dismantle a huge bunk-bed that my step-father built... we're going to move our other king-size bed into that room for guests. No one ever wanted to go on the top bunk of the bed because it was too high and intimidating.

I'm looking forward to having my cousins up to the farm... to hang out, do some camping and kayaking. So glad summer is here.

Cheers everyone, have a super weekend.

Life on the Farm...

Life on the farm is kinda laid back...

The words of John Denver. This is true, in my case, but it Does Not mean that I am not working. I have to get my studio set up and start recording... I have to get Organized!

My wife and I moved up to the house that my brother & I inherited when my beloved Mum passed away last Fall. Mum grew up, with many brothers & sisters, on the farm. It is located in Brennan's Hill, Quebec... about 20 minutes past Wakefield, going North on Hwy 5.

When my Grandmother Stella (Driscoll) and Grandfather, Mike O'Brien were alive, it was a working farm. Mum & her siblings did not live a life of leisure, there was always work to be done. In recent history, since it became the 'O'Brien family farm', it has been a place for all the members of the extended family to gather, usually in the summer, to rest, relax and renew relationships.

This summer is going to be very different, with Mum gone. There won't be many visitors this year. My wife and I will spend most of our time alone looking out over the rolling green fields and forest, we'll be listening to the birds singing in the trees and watching our funny little cat, Squeek, hoping in the grass chasing moths and butterflies. We will take walks to the lake and go for swims and explore the lake in our kayaks, hoping to find a turtle or a Loon. It will be simply beautiful... I just wish Mum was here too.

I hope you have had a great Spring so far and are enjoying each and every day.

Getting Started...

I have been very fortunate in my life. I've had a great of support and tremendous opportunities. I have travelled the world and now I have settled in the best place in the world, home.

I am looking forward now, because I have decided to switch gears in my career and take on some new challenges. Over the years I would day dream about making these changes but it isn't until now that I feel ready to get started.

It's going to exciting!

Cheers.
